Byron Shorter holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He also holds Master’s of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and Master’s of Science degree in International Administration from Central Michigan University. He completed the Executive Program and the Comprehensive Response to Terrorism course at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Shorter completed leadership training at the Brookings Institute and the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC and completed the Defense Leadership and Management Program. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy with assignments at the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations and Patrol Squadron Twenty-Two. Mr. Shorter is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, member of National Naval Officer Association and is currently the President of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association Chapter Capital Region.
